Overview
Project Overview: The goal was to create a consistent, scalable, and accessible design system that would improve the user experience for both gig workers (Troogers) and enterprises, while streamlining the design and development process for internal teams. This would improve efficiency, reduce development time, and enhance user satisfaction. Troogue.ai faced several critical challenges. The user interface was inconsistent across different sections of the platform, leading to a fragmented user experience. Development processes were inefficient due to a lack of standardized components, resulting in redundant work and extended development cycles. The platform struggled with scalability, making it challenging to maintain consistency as new features were added. Finally, accessibility for users with varying abilities was a significant concern. Our strategy involved a phased approach. First, we conducted thorough research, including stakeholder interviews and competitive analysis. Then, we established the design system using atomic design principles and defined design tokens for consistency. We designed reusable components with an emphasis on accessibility. Finally, we documented the system thoroughly with guidelines and interactive examples. Implementation involved pilot testing and user feedback loops. One major challenge was securing buy-in from all stakeholders. To address this, we conducted workshops and presentations to demonstrate the long-term benefits. Integrating the system with existing codebases required careful planning and a phased rollout to minimize disruption. Maintaining flexibility within a standardized system required careful consideration of modular design principles. We overcame these challenges through proactive communication and collaboration. Enhanced Consistency: Achieved a 90% uniformity rate in UI components across the platform, up from 65% prior to the design system's implementation. Reduced Development Time: Observed a 30% decrease in development time for new features, attributed to the availability of reusable components. Improved User Satisfaction: User satisfaction scores increased by 25%, with positive feedback highlighting the platform's intuitive design and ease of use.
